  • 4 cups granulated sugar (plus extra for rolling)
  • 4 cups water (plus extra for blanching)

Instructions

  1. Scrub the oranges to remove wax; slice them into ⅛-inch discs.
  2. Blanch the slices in boiling water for 10 minutes, then transfer to ice water.
  3. In a cleaned pot, dissolve sugar in water and bring to a boil.
  4. Add drained slices to the syrup; simmer on low for 45-60 minutes until translucent.
  5. Place on wire racks over cookie sheets and bake at 175°F for 30 minutes.
  6. Coat with sugar before drying further in the oven for another 1-1½ hours.
