  • 300 grams sirloin steak (or rib eye, flank steak, or blade steak)
  • 1/2 white onion (thinly sliced)
  • 45 slices ginger
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 stalk green onion (cut into 2-inch pieces)
  • Marinade: soy sauce, Shaoxing cooking wine, water, sesame oil
  • Sauce: low-sodium soy sauce, cornstarch, sugar, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, dark soy sauce

Instructions

  1. Prepare your ingredients by slicing the onion and cutting the green onion into segments.
  2. Marinate the thinly sliced beef in a mixture of soy sauce, Shaoxing wine, water, and sesame oil for 15 minutes; then coat with cornstarch.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together the ingredients for the sauce until smooth.
  4. Heat oil in a wok over high heat; sear the marinated beef for 2-4 minutes and remove from the wok.
  5. Sauté ginger followed by garlic and onions until softened.
  6. Return the beef to the wok with green onions and pour in the prepared sauce; cook until thickened.
