  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup granulated white sugar
  • 2 egg yolks, at room temperature
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla bean paste or extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
  • nonpareils for sprinkling on top

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder.
  3. In another bowl, beat the softened butter with light brown and granulated sugars until fluffy.
  4. Mix in egg yolks and vanilla extract until well combined.
  5. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  6. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions onto lined baking sheets and create indentations in the center.
  7. Bake for about 10 minutes or until soft but set; allow to cool on a wire rack.
  8. For ganache, heat cream until simmering and pour over chocolate chips; stir until smooth.
  9. Fill each cookie indentation with ganache once cooled slightly.
