  • 4 medium apples (peeled, cored, and chopped)
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (plus 1 teaspoon)
  • 1 package refrigerated cinnamon rolls

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix the apple pie filling with fresh apples, sugar, cinnamon, and cornstarch until well combined.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter, add the apple mixture and three tablespoons of water. Cook for about 5 minutes until apples soften.
  3. Preheat your oven according to the cinnamon roll package directions. Unroll half the cinnamon rolls to line the bottom and sides of a baking dish.
  4. Pour the warm apple filling into the crust made from cinnamon rolls. Use remaining strips of dough to create a lattice topping.
  5. Bake according to package instructions (approximately 20 minutes) until golden brown.
  6. Drizzle with frosting while warm and let cool slightly before slicing.
