  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix buttermilk and hot sauce.
  2. Add garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, black pepper, and salt; whisk until combined.
  3. Submerge chicken pieces in the marinade; cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  4. In another bowl, combine flour and cornstarch with cayenne pepper, oregano, thyme, cumin, and chili powder; whisk together.
  5. Remove chicken from marinade; dredge in the flour mixture until fully coated.
  6. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Fry chicken in batches for 12-15 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
