  • 2 lbs boneless chicken thighs or tenderloins
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp corn starch
  • ¾ cup fresh orange juice
  • 3 tbsp low sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 1½ tbsp brown sugar
  • ½ tbsp grated ginger
  • 2 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp orange zest
  • Chili flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Dice chicken into ½ inch pieces and coat with flour, corn starch, salt, black pepper, onion powder, paprika, and ginger powder.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat. Fry the coated chicken until golden brown (about 2-3 minutes per batch).
  3. In a bowl, whisk together orange juice, corn starch, soy sauce, vinegar, brown sugar, grated ginger, minced garlic, black pepper, and chili flakes (if desired).
  4. Pour the sauce into a non-stick skillet over low heat and simmer until thickened.
  5. Add fried chicken to the sauce; mix well and simmer for an additional 1-2 minutes.
  6. Serve alongside rice or noodles; garnish with sesame seeds and green onions if desired.
