  • 2 packets active dry yeast (total 1/2 oz. or 14 g + 1 tablespoon sugar)
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 5 tablespoons sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (sifted)
  • 1 large egg
  • 4 cloves garlic (finely minced)
  • 1/2 cup salted butter (melted)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley
  • 1/3 cup shredded Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. In another bowl, heat milk with remaining sugar, salt, and unsalted butter until lukewarm.
  2. Combine the yeast mixture with the milk mixture and add sifted flour. Stir until combined. Cover and let rest for 15 minutes.
  3. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes using a stand mixer with a dough hook until smooth.
  4. Preheat your oven to 350°F (176°C). Divide dough into 24 balls and shape each into a knot.
  5. Prepare garlic-herb butter by mixing melted butter, minced garlic, parsley, and half of the Parmesan cheese; brush over rolls.
  6. Bake for 10–15 minutes until golden brown. Brush remaining butter mixture on top before serving.
