  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 Tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 large Russet or Yukon Gold potatoes (about 2 ½ pounds)
  • 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • Freshly chopped parsley or chives (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together heavy cream, milk, flour, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper until smooth.
  3. Peel and rinse the potatoes before slicing them into 1/8-inch rounds.
  4. Layer 1/3 of the potato slices in the baking dish, followed by 1/3 of the cream mixture. Repeat for two additional layers, finishing with the remaining cream mixture on top. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
  5. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes; then remove the foil and bake for an additional 20 minutes until golden brown and tender.
  6. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
