  • ½ cup Italian bread crumbs
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon dried basil
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 4 sub rolls
  • 1½ cups finely shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, oregano, basil, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well and roll into 1-inch meatballs.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, brown meatballs on all sides. Drain excess grease before adding marinara sauce. Let simmer for 15 minutes.
  3. While simmering, split open sub rolls, butter lightly, and toast under the broiler until golden.
  4. Assemble by placing half the mozzarella in each toasted roll, adding five meatballs per roll, and topping with remaining cheese. Broil until melted and bubbly.
  5. Serve warm with optional garnishes of fresh herbs or red pepper flakes.
