  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 8 slices provolone cheese (4 for filling, 4 for topping)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté diced bell pepper and onion for about 5 minutes until softened.
  3. In a large bowl, mix ground beef with breadcrumbs, egg, milk, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until just combined.
  4. Press half of the meat mixture into the bottom of a loaf pan.
  5. Layer with 4 slices of provolone cheese and the sautéed veggies.
  6. Cover with the remaining meat mixture and seal edges gently.
  7. Bake for 45-50 minutes; add remaining provolone on top during the last 5 minutes.
  8. Let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
