Ingredients

Scale
  • 5 medium apples, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1 and 1/2 cups salted butter, melted
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup + 1 tablespoon heavy cream
  • pinch of fine sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and prepare a 9×13 pan by greasing it and lining with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, mix sliced apples with lemon juice and spices; set aside to meld flavors.
  3. In another bowl, melt the salted butter and combine with remaining crust ingredients to create a crumbly mixture.
  4. Press about two-thirds of the mixture into the prepared pan as the base, then layer the apple filling on top followed by the reserved crumble.
  5. Bake for 38-45 minutes until golden brown and tender; let cool before slicing.
  6. Prepare homemade salted caramel sauce while cooling, then drizzle over bars before serving.
