  • 1½ cup white sugar

  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 cup sourdough discard
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1½ cup brown sugar
  • 5 Tablespoons flour
  • 4 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 6 Tablespoons butter (melted)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream together softened butter and white sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in eggs one at a time along with vanilla extract.
  4. Stir in whole milk and sourdough discard until combined.
  5. Whisk dry ingredients (flour and baking powder) in another bowl; gradually mix into wet ingredients without overmixing.
  6. Prepare the topping by combining brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and melted butter.
  7. Pour half of the batter into a greased baking pan; sprinkle half the topping over it.
  8. Spread remaining batter on top and finish with the rest of the topping.
  9. Bake for about 40 minutes until golden brown; check doneness with a toothpick.
