  • 200g spaghetti
  • 500g ground beef (12% fat)
  • 6 crusty white rolls
  • 240ml beef stock
  • 500g tomato passata
  • 200g mozzarella, shredded
  • Olive oil for cooking
  • 1 medium white onion, finely diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely diced
  • 1 tablespoon tomato puree
  • 80ml red wine
  • ½ tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ bunch fresh basil, chopped
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon sugar
  • 20g freshly grated parmesan
  • 100g butter, melted
  • 30g parmesan for butter
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, made into paste

Instructions

  1. Cook ground beef in olive oil until browned. Add diced onions and garlic; sauté until golden.
  2. Stir in tomato puree, red wine, tomato passata, beef stock, Worcestershire sauce, basil, oregano, sugar, and simmer for 25 minutes.
  3. Hollow out the rolls and brush them with a mixture of melted butter, garlic paste, parsley, and parmesan.
  4. Boil spaghetti until al dente; combine with meat sauce.
  5. Fill the bread bowls with pasta mixture and top with mozzarella.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 8-10 minutes until golden.
