  • 2 large eggs

  • 2 cups finely chopped apples (preferably Granny Smith)
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon turbinado sugar (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition; stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually mix in dry ingredients alternating with sour cream until just combined.
  6. Fold in chopped apples and nuts until evenly distributed.
  7. Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan and sprinkle turbinado sugar on top.
  8. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  9. Allow cooling for about 10 minutes in the pan before transferring to a wire rack.
